Abstract
During 1993-1994, drug enforcement through a regional task force approach continued to be the primary focus of grant funding. Arkansas enjoyed a productive and cooperative relationship with Federal enforcement field operations. Funding was provided for projects in the following purpose areas during the reporting period: demand reduction education, organized crime, community crime prevention, integrated criminal apprehension, career criminal prosecution, court delay reduction, intensive supervision probation and parole, and prosecution management support. Funding was primarily made available to drug task forces which covered the entire State. In most cases, the task force approach integrated enforcement and prosecution within a coordinated unit. Funding was also provided to address violent crime in Pulaski County which accounted for about 20 percent of the State's population and over 50 percent of violent crime. Programs funded by the Formula Grant Program are summarized and evaluated. Appendixes contain a drug task force statistical report, a performance analysis of the task force approach, and drug task force rankings. Tables and figures
