The purpose of this document is to address questions posed by the law enforcement community concerning grants and other potential funding sources.
Abstract
The document contains chapters on how to apply for a grant, finding out about grants, identifying grant sources, alternative support and funding raising, and staffing strategies and includes a sample grant proposal. Information is provided on how to approach grant sources, how to prepare a letter of quiry, and how to prepare a basic proposal. General guidelines to assist in obtaining funds are offered, as well as assistance in how to apply for Federal, State, and private grants. The use of volunteers and professional grant writers is examined, and components of the grant proposal are identified.
