Statistical data are tabulated on the inmate population in California correctional facilities and on the parole population as of December 1995, and these data are compared with the figures as of December 1994.
Abstract
The male institutional population increased from 117,390 in December 1994 to 126,079 in December 1995. For the same period, the female institutional population increased from 125,605 to 135,133, the number of inmates received rose from 10,616 to 10,775, and the number of inmates released declined from 10,882 to 10,768. The male parole population increased from 81,360 in December 1994 to 87,133 in December 1995, while the female parole population increased from 8,249 to 8,977. The number of parolees received decreased from 10,468 to 10,381, and the number of parolees released declined from 9,170 to 8,364. Detailed statistical data are provided on institutional and parole population movements and on the ethnic composition of inmates and parolees. 9 tables
