This document compiles program reports issued by the Genesee County Sheriff's Office in Batavia, Kentucky, that focus on community service, community reparations, reconciliation, victim assistance, and presentence diversion.
Abstract
In addition to key program reports, flowcharts illustrate the criminal justice system in Genesee County. The philosophy and role of the restorative approach to criminal justice are described, along with circle theories, intensive victim assistance, the role of law enforcement, and the significance of the church. A mission statement of Genesee County's criminal and justice systems is included that outlines system goals and objectives. Consideration is paid to media coverage of criminal justice and to the assistance needed by victims of violence. Significant Genesee County justice-related documents are listed, and statistical data on jail admissions, inmates, community service sentencing, presentence diversion, and victim-offender reconciliation are tabulated. Offender essays on ethical and moral issues related to sexual abuse, honesty, respect, responsibility, public trust, and forgiveness are provided. Figures and illustrations
