The NRA presented two tactical shooting schools in 1995, hosted by two of the most prestigious private shooting schools in the country. The differences in these two schools exemplifies the diversity of effective tactics and techniques. NRA instructor Clive Shepard noted that in practical firearms handling, speed is relatively unimportant, while shot placement is of prime concern. During the training week Shepherd introduced numerous training scenarios and emphasized the need to move carefully, shoot quickly, and use cover. The NRA school is worth the expense. Any police agency can benefit from sending police officers to these schools. The tuition is tax-deductible for individual officers who want to attend at their own expense. The NRA's role in developing and presenting these schools should not make police administrators hesitate to send officers to these schools.
