Abstract
The Chart provides sentence information by title and section of the US Code to probation officers for use in their presentence reports to judges. The information in this document was collected through the Federal Probation Sentence and Supervision Information System. More than 3,000 Federal probation officers and statistics clerks submitted detailed reports on each person sentenced. Included herein are explanations of how offenses and sentences are classified; instructions for locating and reading data and averages; cautions concerning the use of the published average; and alternatives for obtaining other averages and summaries for sentencing comparisons. The Table of Contents identifies the types of offenses referred to by specific Titles and Sections of the US Code. In the major section of the document offenses are listed by Title/Section and information presented in four categories: Imprisonment, Probation, Split Sentences, and Fine Only. Appendix
