As part of the registration process for the State Justice Institute's 1995 First National Symposium on the Implementation and Operation of Drug Courts, attending jurisdictions whose drug court programs had operated for at least six months were asked to survey five or more participants within the final stages of their respective program. The purpose of the survey was to ascertain participants' reasons for entering the program and their perceptions of the relative value of certain key program components common to most programs. This report contains background information on respondents, their comments on specific program components, and their suggestions. Program components on which participants commented included: (1) immediacy of treatment; (2) acupuncture services; (3) most important aspects contributing to recovery; (4) time required for program participation; (5) frequency of urinalysis; and (6) relative value of program components in promoting recovery.
