Between 1994 and 1995, the number of firearm certificates on issue in England and Wales increased by 1 percent, from 140,200 to 141,700, and certificates on issue covered 409,000 firearms.
Abstract
About 1 percent of applications for new firearm and shotgun certificates made during 1995 were refused. The number of shotgun certificates on issue at the end of 1995 totaled 653,800, 2 percent fewer than the 670,000 on issue at the end of 1994. Certificates on issue covered 1,296,600 shotguns. The number of registered firearm dealers totaled 2,470 at the end of 1995, 50 fewer than in 1994. Firearm permits granted to visitors during 1995 covered about 2,000 persons, with a further 5,800 covered by visitor shotgun permits. 16 notes, 9 tables, and 3 figures
