International links between different countries are illustrated based on the example of the terrorist group which carried out the massacre at Lod Airport in Israel. These terrorists came from Japan, were trained in Korea, purchased arms from Italy with money raised in West Germany, and had the sympathy and support of several Arab countries. The most important development is that international terrorism is aided, protected, and financed by a number of governments who provide safe havens and false passports for terrorists. In addition, with technological advances, new kinds of weapons and explosives are coming into the possession of terrorist groups. The entry of individual criminals and criminal gangs is also changing the character of terrorism from being politically motivated to criminally motivated. Terrorist activities in their various manifestations are highlighted, including kidnappings, abductions, hijackings, hostage seizures, extortions, assassinations, and bombings around the world and specifically in India.
