Victimology is examined in terms of its relationship to the worldwide expansion of criminology, its focal points and flaws, and the concept of critical victimology.
Abstract
The worldwide interest in victimology is intense. This interest was aroused by the First International Victimology Symposium, which was organized by Israel Dupkin in 1972. Dupkin believed that criminologists usually fail to take the victim's perspective into consideration and that their work needs some supplementation in this area.
