Abstract
Following a chart of the structure of the North Dakota judicial system, a profile of the judicial system addresses the structure of the court system, its administrative authority, and the selection and removal of judges. Data for the North Dakota Supreme Court present a caseload synopsis for the 1995 and 1994 calendar years, the number of various types of dispositions for civil and criminal cases, and a caseload overview of North Dakota courts (Supreme Court, district courts, and county courts) for 1995 and 1994. For 1995 there were 141 new criminal filings for the Supreme Court, compared to 98 for 1994. Civil and criminal caseload statistics are provided for the district courts, showing 28,555 new criminal filings for 1995, compared to 26,864 for 1994. Caseload statistics are presented for each of the judicial districts and the municipal courts with the highest volume of cases. Information is also provided on the administration of the judicial system and the work of the Office of the State Court Administrator, the advisory committees of the North Dakota judicial system, the Disciplinary Board, the Judicial Conduct Commission, the State Bar Board, and the North Dakota Judicial Conference.
