This report presents background information and statistics about each secure juvenile detention center in Florida from January 1994 through December 1995.
Abstract
The data came from the monthly reports submitted from the detention centers as well as from headquarters detention staff. The information on each facility includes its bed capacity, location, catchment area, physical plant condition, position use rate, overcrowding, and proposals for additional beds. The statewide data reveal several trends from January 1994 through December 1995. The number of beds increased from 1,369 to 1,465. The number of admissions during the month increased from 2,947 to 3,456. The average length of stay increased from 9.3 days to 10.2 days. The average daily population increased from 1,296 to 1,835. The utilization rate increased from 94.7 percent to 125.3 percent. Tables and figures
