The detailed examination of occupational homicide is based on an examination of actual case histories and on the application of analysis and prevention techniques that can be used to inform and train staff and managers. A methodology for understanding and quantifying occupational homicide is introduced, and a profile of the potentially violent worker is developed by looking at actual workplace homicide incidents. The profiling system emphasizes ease of understanding and applicability to a wide variety of work environments. In addition, a method of analyzing workplace homicide incidents is presented that can be used by workers and managers to learn more about the crime and create a safer work environment. Finally, the working profile of an organization committed to eliminating occupational homicide and workplace violence is described. The impact of occupational homicide in the work setting and effective intervention and prevention strategies are discussed.
