Abstract: The discussion of juvenile gun use notes that guns are now the weapon of choice for youth and gun homicides by juveniles have tripled since 1983, while homicides involving other weapons have declined. Disputes that would previously have ended in fist fights are now more likely to lead to shootings. However, programs to take guns from youth and prevent gun violence are being established. Public information campaigns and improved efforts to address child abuse and neglect are two other promising approaches. The description of the National Juvenile Justice Action Plan notes that it is a comprehensive agenda to reduce youth violence. The plan has eight objectives. Further articles note that the decline in juvenile murders in 1995 occurred mostly in gun-related murders by black males, describe books that focus on juvenile processing and recreation programs for youth at risk, and describe OJJDP bulletins discussing education and youth development initiatives. Figures, photographs, reference lists, list of OJJDP publications, and order form
