This study examined the discriminant validity of the Trauma Symptom Checklist (TSC-40) in a clinical sample of 103 men and 79 women requesting services at two outpatient clinics.
Abstract
Information about childhood sexual victimization was collected from clients during intake and from therapists after clients had received 6 months of therapy. A history of childhood sexual abuse was associated with high symptom levels across symptom dimensions of the TSC-40 and specifically with elevation on the trauma subscale of the TSC-40. Findings support the view that, in a clinical setting, childhood sexual abuse is related to generalized distress and post-trauma stress disorder symptoms. 22 references and 2 tables
