This volume presents outcome data from 52 drug treatment programs receiving support from the National Institute of Mental Health.
Abstract
The data are based on the measures contained in a separate manual for self-evaluation of drug treatment programs. The tables are grouped according to four treatment techniques: methadone maintenance, therapeutic residential communities, drug-free outpatient programs, and outpatient detoxification programs. Drug use patterns at intake are grouped into four categories: (1) daily use of opiates only; (2) daily use of opiates and frequent use of other drugs, including alcohol; (3) less than daily use of opiates and frequent use of other drugs, including alcohol; and (4) no use of opiates but problematic use of other drugs, including alcohol. Data are also provided for race, age, sex, employment status, criminality, and termination from the program. Tables and instructions for interpreting them
