Section One is a narrative of the programs. For each type of program, the compendium describes its purpose, eligible population, organizational structure, supervision provided, and statutory authority. The program policies and data from this section are from fiscal year 1994-1995. The 15 types of community corrections programs profiled are pretrial services programs; deferred prosecution; mental health and substance abuse assessment and treatment services; treatment alternatives to street crime; drug education schools; fines; unsupervised probation; community service work program; probation, post- release supervision and parole; house arrest with electronic monitoring; day reporting centers; boot camp; residential centers; half-way houses; and community penalties program. Section Two contains program profiles that use data provided by the agencies. The data address program admission, termination, length of stay, and cost information for 18 community corrections programs.
