This inventory of dispute resolution (DR) professionals in Canada is the result of efforts by Canada's Department of Justice to help DR professionals learn about activities of their peers and to formulate effective DR approaches.
Abstract
The inventory started with mailing letters to members of the Network: Interaction for Conflict Resolution who were asked for their mailing lists. Other names were obtained from letterheads and advertisements, DR groups, government offices, professional associations, resource centers, DR professionals in private practice, and informal collegial contacts. The mailing list grew to 5,150 names of individuals, agencies, organizations, and groups who ultimately received questionnaires. As of April 1994, the inventory contained 1,111 entries. Questionnaires sought information on multilingual DR, office settings, public outreach, nature of disputes handled, training, research, clients, and priorities of DR professionals. Respondents made numerous recommendations on the effective provision of DR services. The bulk of the inventory document consists of appended listings of DR professionals with brief descriptive information.
