Abstract
The Latin Kings began in the 1940's in Chicago to help protect Latin people. Luis Felipe, who became a Latin King in Chicago, founded the Latin Kings in New York State on January 20, 1986, while he was serving time in the Collins Correctional Facility. After 2 months, there were over 60 members of the Latin Kings, including four body guards for the first crown, King Blood. The first action planned was a quick, brutal, and successful war with the Muslims. The Latin Kings of New York and their sub-chapter, the New Jersey Latin Kings, view Central New Jersey as prime land for their version of "Manifest Destiny." The Latin Kings have become one of the most powerful street and prison gangs in this region of the Nation. The best estimate for Latin Kings in New York City is between 2,000 and 5,000. Connecticut has approximately 8,000. There is no figure for New Jersey. The Latin Kings are a criminal enterprise, a drug-dealing gang that is intent on gaining wealth and power any way they can, including murder. Appended documents of the Latin Kings
