A CD-ROM offered in Germany contains two databases that provide access to literature in criminology; these databases are KrimDok and KrimMon.
Abstract
KrimDok has more than 21,000 documents, mainly in German. Some documents are in English, French, or Dutch. KrimDok catalogs and analyzes journal articles, books, and other documents from criminal justice and related fields since 1990. Each document is related to one or more keywords or phrases. The terms belong to a list with more than 20,000 terms. KrimMon has more than 51,000 documents, mainly in English. It emphasizes unpublished research reports and government documents. The hierarchical thesaurus has 14 main categories and four steps. The retrieval software LitMan allows searches in both databases. The user interface is currently in German. An English version will be available in the next CD-ROM. Retrieval is possible by standard methods by using the index list, through hyperlinks, and with sets of hits.
