Compendium of Information Sources on Youth

NCJ Number
167987
Date Published
1997
Length
74 pages
Annotation
This compendium of more than 80 clearinghouses, libraries, research centers, youth development organizations, and publishers is intended to be a resource for professionals, volunteers, funders, grant writers, researchers, educators, and others who work with or on behalf of young people.
Abstract
The compendium stems from a collective concern that much of the available information, resources, and research on youth and youth development programs is not being widely disseminated, and many are not aware of its existence. This compendium was developed to make the information more accessible to the field. The compendium provides a preliminary list of resource centers and services that have been identified by the youth development field as providing useful information. Each of the sources of information listed in this compendium either publishes, distributes, or electronically links a customer to information on youth services, statistics, funding information, or databases of specialized youth-related material. Each entry provides a summary of the purpose and activities of the information source, selected publication and resources, and a description of the contents of its Internet site, if one exists. The compendium is also indexed in three ways to assist the reader in identifying information sources. Information sources are listed in alphabetical order in the table of contents, are indexed by subject categories, and are indexed by the publications and electronic resources they have available.
