These papers describe the role and activities of the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) in Germany, with emphasis on the activities of the criminological research group, police information exchanges, and library contents and organization.
Abstract
The BKA provides identification and forensic expert opinions for criminal proceedings, serves as the National Central Bureau of Interpol for Germany, develops police analyses and crime statistics, and provides education and training in special fields of policing. The research group conducts crime analysis and forecasts, researches crime prevention, evaluates police work, and publishes the annual police statistics. The library collection includes 100,000 volumes and about 520 periodicals on criminology, criminalistics, law, sociology, psychology, administration, and economics.
