Abstract
The guide describes the characteristics of adolescent females; the profile of the female juvenile offender; and how female juveniles who come into the justice system differ from males in their social, physical, and emotional development. The text also discusses issues related to race, culture, class, sexual acting out, sexual abuse, family relationships, spirituality. The 14 basic components of a model program for female juvenile offenders are described. Staff techniques and staff needs are outlined as well.
