This booklet provides information, simple suggestions, and practical advice aimed at preventing missing children.
Abstract
The goal of this booklet is to raise parents' awareness of preventive measures, educate parents to warning signs in their children's behavior and suggest appropriate action. For teachers, refuge workers, counselors, welfare workers, police officers, and others concerned with child safety and welfare, the booklet is an educational tool, reference and referral resource. The booklet is divided into three major sections: (1) Preventive methods and techniques, warning signs in a child's behavior, and possible action; (2) Help for children and families when a child becomes missing, when a child returns, when a child does not return, common reactions of parents, coping and grief and (3) Suggested reading list and directory of helpful Australian services, organizations and groups. The booklet also contains a directory of major missing persons organizations and agencies in Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand, and the United States.
