Abstract
A chapter on how social-psychological development affects labor market success includes a discussion of requirements for labor market success and a developmental framework. Another chapter, Assessment and Engagement in Program Settings, provides guidance on assessment and goals, tracking progress, engaging youth in programs, and how support services facilitate growth. A chapter concerning Staffing and Organizational Issues contains guidance on structuring relationships between staff and youth, criteria and process for staff selection, information on staff training, and organizational features for developmental settings. Promoting youth development in the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) system is the focus of a section that describes assessment and goals in the JTPA programs, the use of service strategies that enhance development, staff/youth relationships in JTPA, and organizational supports for development in the JTPA system. The document identifies programmatic features that are critical to establishing effective interventions. Notes, exhibits, references, appendixes
