During the grant period from May 1989 to June 1993 for this research program on juveniles taken into custody, the National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD) moved the collection of State data on juveniles from six original test States (California, Texas, Illinois, Ohio, New York, and New Jersey) to a total of 35 States.
Abstract
The NCCD completed annual reports detailing and analyzing the data collected and convened a State Juvenile Corrections System Reporting Program data provider conference. Activities completed during the grant period included the recruitment of new automated and manual State data providers, the recruitment of States to provide aggregated admissions and release data, the collection and recoding of data submissions from automated States, technical assistance visits to orient new data providers, and communication and progress reports to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. In addition, the NCCD disseminated information, including an information exchange with the National Center on Juvenile Justice and publication of an NCCD Focus on the State Juvenile Corrections System Reporting Program. 2 maps
