The program on addiction focuses on the signs, symptoms, and behavioral characteristics of the progression from the first use of a drug to addiction. It includes interviews with recovering addicts as they tell their story of their early, middle, and late stages of addiction and their movement toward recovery through involvement in a 12-step program such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. The training program uses an interactive road map that allows the viewer to choose the topics and vignettes depicting the personal, social, and family problems resulting from drug abuse. Viewers can follow the words and story of a particular character or can select printed information such as a glossary of terms, a customizable directory of local organizations, questions concerning the training content, and a self-evaluation for drug problems. The second course uses the same kind of interactive road map to focuses on recovery from addiction through a 12-step program.
