Depending on the data source, this report contains criminal justice statistics by State for 1992 through 1997.
Abstract
Arrest statistics and arrest rates are presented in aggregate and by offense for Index crimes for 1996, along with clearances in the aggregate and by offense. State corrections statistics encompass the inmate population for 1996 to 1997, the incarceration rate, inmates under death sentence, inmates released, inmate deaths by illness and AIDS, inmates known to be positive for HIV infection/AIDS, and offenders on probation. Information on corrections employees is for 1995. Data on the number of drug and alcohol offenders is for 1995 and addresses admissions to treatment programs by gender and race, as well as expenditures for drug treatment programs. Data on various criminal justice expenditures are for 1994. Juvenile statistics for 1996 encompass arrests for various offenses, victims of child abuse and neglect, and juveniles in public facilities. Also included are data on law enforcement employees (1992), offenses (1996), urban-rural crime comparisons, and 1992 crimes. Appended population data, a list of data sources, and a subject index
