The video portrays program activities as well as interviews with program leaders and youth participants. The program uses photographs, videos, and spoken presentations to impress upon youth the harm and futility of using handguns to resolve conflicts and threats. Further, it impresses upon the youth, most of whom are African-American, the positive contributions and sacrifices that various particular persons have made to advance the civil rights of African-Americans and other minority ethnic groups. Program leaders indicate that the program's intent is to assist youth in thinking positively about themselves and their communities, such that a life that relies on the handgun is viewed as a threat not only to a personal positive future, but to their communities and their heritage. Music videos used in the program present positive rap messages designed to prevent lifestyles that rely on handguns and violence. Comments by program participants show their appreciation for each individual's responsibility for personal behavior and a commitment to life-enhancing values. The program is also presented in high schools.
