The President's Crime Commission of 1967 is discussed in terms of its perspective on crime and the criminal justice system, its recommendations for reform, and its impact over the last 30 years, based on presentations and discussions at a 1997 symposium that focused on the Commission's work.
Abstract
The Commission focused on two issues: (1) how to produce an effective, decent criminal justice system and (2) how to deal with crime. It believed that it was important to establish social justice as well as criminal justice.
