Security at the America's Center in St. Louis is provided by a 400-square-foot state-of-the-art central monitoring station that helps security personnel oversee 16 enclosed acres, including the stadium and the convention center.
Abstract
The central station is equipped with 2 master controllers and 15 terminal controllers, each with its own expander board. The master controllers gather information from other terminal and alarm controllers and transfer it to a computer. Terminal and alarm controls and expander boards collect information such as alarm status and access control status for downloading by the master controller. To transmit signals from the central station to various monitoring points, 50 percent hard-line copper wiring and 50 percent fiber optic wiring are used. The America's Center has 156 closed- circuit television cameras, 48 in the stadium and 108 in the convention center. Access to the facility is controlled by one of three systems: proximity system, Kronos time and attendance software package, and electronic locks. The security director for the America's Center says the central monitoring station has proven its effectiveness. 4 photographs
