After reviewing new products and technology, this issue presents equipment highlights of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Show, followed by a Manufacturers and Distributors Directory and an Equipment Directory.
Abstract
Some of the items described in the "Products and Technology" section are self-expiring IDs; a wireless video transmitter and receiver for security and surveillance applications; a full sunlight and night readable display for mobile screen users; and lightweight body armor that has increased wearability and improved comfort. Also described are an automated external defibrillator and a line of latex and nitrile gloves that protect officers from liquid pathogens and ensure the proper handling of evidence. The highlights of the IACP Show feature descriptions of holster security, the newest version of the Model 700 sniper rifle, mountain bikes, aluminum high-power flashlights that attach directly to the handle of batons designed for them, and a restraint designed to secure a subject in a safe seated position while riding in a police vehicle. The Manufacturers and Distributors Directory lists the names, addresses, and telephone and fax numbers of manufacturers and distributors, along with the products they manufacture or distribute. The Equipment Directory lists various items of police equipment alphabetically, along with the various manufacturers and distributors that supply them.
