This report presents statistics on the nature and extent of crime in Arizona during 1995, based on information from the Arizona Uniform Crime Reporting System.
Abstract
The data revealed that 1 murder, 4 rapes, 20 robberies, 56 aggravated assaults, 159 burglaries, 556 larceny-thefts, 132 motor vehicle thefts, and 4 arsons were reported to Arizona police agencies every 24 hours during 1995. The State experienced 339,978 Crime Index Offenses. A total of 42,452 adults and 19,197 juveniles were arrested for index offenses. The offenses included 29,354 violent crimes, including 20,396 aggravated assaults. Males accounted for 86.4 percent of the 9,955 arrests for violent crimes. Larceny-theft accounted for 202,874 of the 310,624 property crimes. Males accounted for 73.9 percent of the 51,694 arrests for property crimes.
