Abstract
The primary source of data for the Compendium was the Statewide Traffic Accident Records System maintained by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The report is divided into four sections: (1) Traffic Safety Personal Injury Problem Analysis Clock; (2) Statewide Traffic Safety Analysis; (3) Detail Traffic Safety Problem Analysis (involving speed, drinking, young driver, older driver, commercial motor vehicle, motorcycle, school bus, bicycle, pedestrian, fixed object, hazardous material, construction zone, and seat belt); and (4) County and City Traffic Crash Analysis. In 1995, Missouri had a total of 185,915 traffic crashes. The associated economic loss was estimated to be $3,169,354,000. A total of 1,109 persons died in Missouri traffic crashes, or one person every 7.9 hours. The death rate of 1.9 per million miles of travel was exactly the same as in 1994. A total of 81,114 persons were injured in traffic crashes in 1995, or one injury every 6.5 minutes. Figures, tables, notes, glossary
