Based at Shippensburg University, the Center provides a Weekend Master's Program in the Administration of Justice. Candidates for the program are carefully selected based on their potential for academic success and performance as probation officers. The Center also provides annual training for juvenile justice practitioners on topics of immediate concern for service delivery. In addition to orientation for new officers, training is offered in five primary areas: skill building, informational/professional development, motivational guidance and stress management, management/supervisory training, and staff safety. The Statistical Analysis Center is part of the Center for Juvenile Justice Training and Research. It is responsible for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of juvenile delinquency and dependency information in an annual report. The Child Welfare Division of the Center provides data collection, research, and technical assistance to the Office of Children, Youth and Families for its Independent Living Initiative, Family Preservation Program, and Child Abuse and Family Service Program. Further, the Center has developed into a valuable research and evaluation source for the State.
