The text is intended to provide a state-of-the-art reference to drug treatment as it is conceptualized and practiced in the United States today. The volume is intended for use by advanced undergraduate students; graduate students in clinical psychology, social work, and medicine; drug counselors in training; and treatment professionals. The authors are theoreticians and practitioners. The five theoretical approaches discussed are the 12-step, the psychodynamic, the behavioral, the marital/family, and the motivational approach.
