Abstract

The archive provides computer-readable data for the quantitative study of crime and the criminal justice system, supplies technical assistance in selecting data collections and the computer hardware and software for analyzing data efficiently and effectively, and offers training in quantitative methods of social science research. Most of the crime and justice data described in the catalog can be freely acquired via the NACJD website. The catalog lists data collections that have been released by ICPSR through May 1998. The collections are organized by topic. Topics include attitude surveys; community studies; corrections; court case processing; courts; criminal justice system; crime and delinquency; official statistics; police; victimization; and drugs, alcohol, and crime. The study descriptions include an outline of the substantive content of the collection as well as the number and length of records in the data files.
