The book begins with a description of standards of care for the treatment of adult sex offenders. Other articles examine the nature of interpersonal violence and aggression, further the understanding of pedophilia (testing the "abuse-to-abuser" hypothesis) and the assessment, psychosexual profiling and treatment of exhibitionism. Still others address the importance of good assessment techniques; combining hostile masculinity and impersonal sex; issues affecting victims and families of sex offenders; why treatment does not work for some sex offenders; medical problems associated with sex offenders; working with special populations of sex offenders, especially those with learning difficulties or mental retardation; and variations in remodeling and their therapeutic implications.
