A survey of 402 trial judges, court administrators, and other court personnel solicited answers to the following questions: What kinds of technology have been adopted in Texas courts? Are judges and other members of the judicial branch resistant to technology? Which system is the most effective in dealing with the increasing number of cases? What are the obstacles to technology adoption and the best strategies to overcome them? The study found a substantial level of statewide court automation and a high degree of professional satisfaction with court technology in Texas. The study also found that court managers are fostering greater computer literacy and that a paucity of information, rather than a lack of information, is related to the resistance to change. The researchers recommend that the study be expanded to include appellate courts in the State. 5 tables and 5 references
