Abstract
The material in the book emphasizes substantive criminal law rather than criminal procedures. While criminal procedures deal with the legal steps through which a criminal case passes, from the initial investigation of a crime to the determination of punishment, the book emphasizes the acts, mental state, and attendant circumstances associated with a crime. The first part of the book contains chapters on criminal law theory and principles, offenses against persons and property, theft offenses, forgery and other fraud offenses, white-collar and corporate crime, offenses involving morality and decency, offenses against the public peace, offenses against public justice and administration, drug-related offenses, preparatory activity crimes, mental capacity and defenses, and offenses involving juveniles. The second part of the book reviews judicial decisions related to offenses covered in the first part of the book. Appendixes contain information on Title 18 of the U.S. Code. A student study guide and an instructor's guide accompany the text. Footnotes
