The 19th annual report of the Alaska Judicial Council, covering the 1997-1998 period, provides information on the council responsibilities and statutory mandates and on council activities.
Abstract
The report outlines purposes of the Alaska Judicial Council and council membership, organization, and administration. The report also discusses judicial selection and evaluation and reports and recommendations of the Alaska Judicial Council. Activities of the council are described with respect to the appellate case management system, community corrections and parole board case management, criminal justice computer system upgrades, the Criminal Justice Assessment Commission, magistrate and peace officer surveys, alternative dispute resolution and mediation, crime victims, rural justice, court improvements, domestic violence misdemeanant supervision, judicial training, civil cases, and miscellaneous committees. Eleven appendixes contain additional details on the Alaska Judicial Council and on judicial selection, appointment, retention, and evaluation. Tables
