This report is intended to serve as a useful resource to architects and other individuals involved in architectural planning, design, and construction by describing state-of-the-art architectural developments in prisons, jails, courts, and law enforcement facilities.
Abstract
The report describes 46 architectural projects for correctional, court, detention, juvenile, law enforcement, multiple use, and special facilities throughout the United States and in Canada and Israel. Project descriptions include architect statements, photographs, and drawings and note architectural innovations. Certain projects descriptions indicate that architectural design reflects an increased interest in community policing and neighborhood involvement, that juvenile facilities need more attention, and that major architectural innovations have occurred in some justice facilities.
