This book is an introduction to retail security and risk management.
Abstract
It covers the basic principles; the various techniques and technologies that are available; and the retailer's interaction with police authorities, courts, and the law in general. A section on the elements of physical security addresses locking hardware, alarm systems, electronic article surveillance, closed circuit television, and guard force management. The section on loss-prevention programs focuses on employee awareness, audit programs, shoplifting prevention, employee dishonesty, and sales audit. Topics discussed in a section titled, "The Finer Points," address investigation and interview; civil liability; robbery prevention; scams, frauds, and bouncing checks; civil recovery and civil demand; and violence in the workplace.
