The number of crimes increased 0.9 percent from 1994 and decreased 2.1 percent from 1993. Almost two-thirds (65.7 percent) of the offenses were property crimes, less than 1 percent were sex offenses, 8 percent were other personal offenses, 12.8 percent were public order offenses, 9.3 percent were traffic law offenses, 2.1 percent were drug law offenses, and 0.7 percent were robbery and extortion. The total number of offenses against the person has steadily increased since the early 1980s, but the rate of increase now seems slowing.
