Contributors to the book recognize successful work with offenders must be adapted to legal, social, and institutional environments within which rehabilitation is carried out. They discuss the treatment and management of individual offenders within these contexts. Book chapters are organized according to three sections. The first section considers criminological psychology, individual and family factors in the explanation and prevention of offending, and psychology and the law. The second section covers service provision, emphasizing community-based interventions and working in secure institutions. The third section concerns working with offenders and focuses on mentally disordered offenders, sex offenders, violent offenders, the link between alcohol and drugs and criminal behavior, and young offenders.
