This manual is intended to inform crime victims in Maryland of victims' rights and victim services and how to use them.
Abstract
The text explains case processing in Maryland from the time the victim reports a crime through all phases of case processing and outlines the victims' rights and services at each stage. It also explains the role, eligibility requirements, and procedures related to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. Further sections explain the special rights available to victims of domestic assault, other legal remedies for victims of domestic violence, services for domestic violence victims, and protection from stalking. Other sections provide guidelines for victims of rape and other sexual assault and explain juvenile case processing and victims' rights and services for cases handled in the juvenile justice system.
