Date Published
1996
Length

This manual presents and explains the procedures of the Quincy, Mass., Court Model for probation and parole supervision of male batterers in the community, starting with post-disposition processing; the text and sample materials are intended to assist other interested jurisdictions in developing their own programs.
Abstract
Introductions note that the Quincy Model Domestic Abuse Program has been successful because it is proactive and predicated on several elements, particularly the close coordination of effort among several criminal justice and social service agencies. The manual covers post-disposition processing, including intake procedures such as photographs and case classification, the probation officer's duties such as explaining probation conditions and developing the supervision plan, and the mandatory and discretionary conditions of probation. Other sections focus on prosecuting alleged violators for new abuse, other criminal violations, and technical violations; arresting probationers who violate probation; sentencing probation violators; and presentence assessment and investigation reports. Photographs, forms, checklists, appended program materials, and list of resource organizations
