The average time from first listing to completion decreased to 55 days in October 1998 from 59 days a year earlier. There were an average of 2.4 adjournments in indictable cases in 1998 compared with 2.6 in each of the previous 3 years. Among defendants in indictable cases in youth courts, the average offense to completion time fell to 116 days in October 1998 from 129 days in October 1987 and 135 days in October 1996.
