The larger study compared the situation with respect to bullying in schools over a number of very different countries. The Dutch research team explored the relationship between bullying other forms of deviant behavior; this book includes their observations on delinquent acts and problem behavior. In addition to making an inventory of bullying and related behavioral problems, the study proposed to analyze the background of the problem and to evaluate programs that prevent or combat bullying in school. The book's seven chapters include a theoretical framework for the study as well as discussion of study participants and methodology. In addition, it discusses frequent victims and their reactions to bullying; relation between being bullied, bullying others, delinquency, and problem behavior; sociodemographic conditions, family bonding, the bond with school, leisure and peers and a multivariate approach involving family, school and neighborhood; and school policies and school practice.
