This annotated bibliography of firearms research on selected issues (1990-98) focuses on the following categories of literature: comparative international studies, crime/violent crime, homicide, suicide, and unintentional harms and firearm injuries.
Abstract
Although the focus is on Canadian research, the abundance of research from the United States required the inclusion of research based in North America. Sources were selected from referred journal articles, research reports, books, and papers presented at symposiums/conferences that were published at a later date. There are three recommended readings for those who are interested in firearms research and literature, particularly within the Canadian context. Fifteen listings are provided under the category of "Comparative International Research," and 17 listings are presented under the category of "Crime and Violent Crime." Seven listings are provided under the category of "Homicide," followed by 13 listings under the "Suicide" category. Fourteen listings are contained in the category of "Unintentional Harms and Firearm Injuries." Appended listing of 66 selected internet sites
